well, paul makes sure homosexuality is mentioned enough in the new testament. of course, since the bible uses itself to justify every single bit of itself, a probable argument of "but i only believe what JESUS says in the bible" is wrong, because paul's parts of the bible are regarded as truth as well.

so... not really. :(

Last year at Pride one of our counter-protest people made a sign that said "The Bible is a whole book- you can't pick and choose." One of the Fundies stole the sign.

Previously, I had only heard about a couple of references to homosexuality in the Old Testament (OT) and never heard about any in the New Testament (NT). So, a quick search found a couple of interesting articles: First and Second. These pretty much gave the same information as the others I read in that the references to homosexuality are hard to guage. The word commonly used for homosexuality in the ancient Greek wasn't the word used in the scripture. There were references about a practice of raping slave boys. Of course, this seems a legitimate concern and that as we know isn't about homosexuality!

I am not even Christian, yet I recognize that isn't what the faith is supposed to be about. Oh well, it is easier to be high and mighty and condemn, than to actually help or love anyone.

I truly love seeing Leviticus referenced in a web comic, oh man.

Bingo.

;-)

And what [info]revdrmarsh alludes to...it's about loving (God) and your neighbor as yourself. That is what Jesus was all about. Period.

Paul's intentions were good, but he was a zealot.
