Minneapolis bridge collapses during rush hour
NBC: All city’s ambulances called in; at least 1 reportedly drowns
A busy highway bridge that spans the Mississippi River just northeast of Minneapolis collapsed during rush hour Wednesday, sending a school bus, other vehicles and tons of concrete crashing into the water. My thoughts go out to the friends and family of the injured and killed.
The entire span of the Interstate 35W bridge collapsed about 6:05 p.m. A tractor-trailer caught fire, and flame and black smoke billowed into the sky.
At least one person drowned, and 20 to 30 people — at least six of whom were children — were injured. NBC News reported that every Minneapolis ambulance had been requested to the scene.
If you want to do something constructive, donating blood to the Red Cross would be a good idea. I'm not allowed to donate in this country due to my having lived in England. But if you can, please give.
